Wow, this summer has flown by. It’s not over yet, but there is a coolness in the air. This summer we got to celebrate our nephew’s first birthday. We also had a few other birthdays between family and friends. We went to our church carnival with a few friends and their children. Bill and I vied to each win them something- which we did. We also went to the beach a lot. Next week is Labor Day and we get to celebrate our niece’s 7th birthday. Tonight we are going to see a concert in the park. Keep on checking us out for the latest.
Christmas is coming. It is our favorite holiday and time of year. There is nothing like seeing the houses lit up and all the decorations throughout town. It really puts us in the spirit. We are hoping that next year will will add an extra twinkling light- a baby. We have been at this process for one year now. We keep having faith that God will provide for us. In the meantime, we celebrate with all of our friends and family and thank God for all his blessings.
Happy Halloween all!! It’s a nice cool sunny day here in NY and we love seeing all the kids in the neighborhood out trick or treating. We’ve seen some Disney princesses, Spiderman, witches, vampires, and Star Wars characters. One of the cutest was the little baby dressed up as a lion in his stroller. What innocence! Bill and I look forward to more trick or treaters coming and hope that next year we will have a little one in costume. #waitingtoadopt
September is a big month to celebrate birthdays with our family and our friends. While we do not have birthdays this month, two nieces and two nephews along with Bill’s mom, Mary’s brother, and a few close friends have celebrations. Yes, it’s a busy time for us but we enjoy it no matter what. Plus, the best part – there is a lot of birthday cakes to go around!
Be strong! It is something many of us hear throughout the course of our lives. We hear it when we are children in some way, when we are teenagers going through the motions, when we are adults looking for jobs, mates, etc. We also hear it in good times and bad. We have so many people telling us to be strong, as we look to adopt. We also have to remember that this strength goes for the birthparents as well. They are the strong ones – probably stronger than us. They are choosing adoption. They are choosing what is in the best interest of their child. So when someone tells us to be strong, I thank them, but I also tell them to pray for all birth parents- that they be strong too. For it is their strength that will allow Bill and I to become parents.
This weekend Bill and I said goodbye to one of his brothers who is moving to Tennessee. Our sister-in-law, April is from the Chattanooga area and they are headed close to her hometown along with their 3 boys. We had one final goodbye with them on Saturday. We know that this is the right move for them, but Bill and I will miss them and our nephews. It is the beginning of a new adventure for them and we could not be more happy or excited for them. We understand how difficult of a decision this was, but life is filled with difficult decisions and life changing events. One never knows what the future holds. Life is an adventure and we are all along for the ride that God gives us.
Summer brings us so many things. Flowers blooming, BBQs, with friends and family, birthday and other celebrations. Somehow it goes by all to quickly. Bill and I are looking forward to seeing many of our families over the impending July 4th weekend. We look forward to hosting a small BBQ for our close friends. The best part is watching all of the children play. It is the small things like this we look forward to when we are blessed with a child. Warm summer nights, catching fireflies, toasting marshmallows- all the things we did as kids. So as we gear up for many summer celebrations, we will hope, pray, and hold onto our childhood memories- knowing that we too will be able to experience it all over again through the eyes of the child we are meant to adopt.
Summer is almost here and so many wonderful events are coming up. One of Mary’s aunts will turn 100 tomorrow and then her mom celebrates a birthday in a few days. We also have our niece’s kindergarten graduation and her first dance recital. We also await the birth of one nephew and a niece or nephew. Plus. there will be many gathering with friends and family. Yes, summer will be busy, but it also make us grateful for what we have in life. We hope to add a new addition ourselves. For now we thank God for all of our blessings.
Mother’s Day was a busy weekend. We had a great time celebrating with Bill’s family the night before Mother’s Day and then on the day itself, I took a quick study break to see my mom, sister-in-law, brother, and adorable niece. Sunday was a bit of a hard day for me, but Bill brightened it up with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I also got a card from my niece and godson. I know in my heart of hearts, that next year will be different.
